My Life (full of surprises and inspirations): Old model laptop was successfully formatted using USB flash drive!

Yes!!! After 12 hours, the old model laptop was successfully formatted using USB flash drive!

Know why I am this happy????

Let me tell you the reasons..

I know how to format a computer/laptop but should have CR/DVD Rom drive. This is the only way I learned during my 3rd year of college. (OJT days - thanks to my mentors’ anyway. hehe)

And then, one day!!! Shocks! ~~I am dead!~~ (I think). My sister's laptop had a system failure (because of me) not really sure though. Sounds funny? Yeah! hehe, I just don’t want to admit it since it is always in a repair shop caused by the same problem.

Okay, let's get started to what happened that day.

My sister asked me to repair her laptop, she can't connect to the internet using her Globe tattoo USB.

So what I did was to take charge, ~~there could be a human error involved~~. (haha, so mean)

After a few minutes of inspection, hoola! Found the reason why it wasn't working properly. Her Globe Tattoo stick application was corrupted.

So I decided to run her tattoo stick into my Netbook and copied all the necessary program files after the software installation. Pasted in her lapty's drive and then it's done! Working perfectly!!! :)

But that's not yet the end; let's just say it is just the "BEGINNING".

That was the week when I was on my vacation leave slash birthday leave. (Ehem - high performance delivered! Confidential)

It wasn't my last day of being on leave at work so I want to do something knowing that I still have plenty of time. Blessing in disguise (???), my sister asked me to install a yahoo messenger on her lapty since I uninstalled some of her applications the last time I checked of it.

I'd downloaded and installed the latest YM into her laptop. I also updated her AVIRA antivirus (never thought this would start my troubles) haha

Scan,,,, scan,,, scan,, 20% ,,, 30%,,, whoooooops! Virus detected! W32/Sality.At …1,2,3……….up to 397!!!!! (Imagine!) Now I know why her laptop running sooo SLOW, not only because of its outdated model but also because of viruses. (Eww)

My not so good attitude of being ~~"knows-it-all/carelessness"~~ attacked. Yes, I admit it haha! Remember what I said earlier "I want to do something!" - Something miserable??? nyahaha! Of course not, I never thought of that. It's never my intention to do something like that.

I moved all the viruses to quarantine and having no contentment I deleted it all.

Of course restart needed to take effect. 1,2,3 clicked!

Booting up, ooooops again! It doesn't boot up to its operating system. No kidding aside, I feel very tense that moment. Really anxious, I tried restarting again but no luck even pressing F8 to boot it in safe mode.

Really dead!!!! WTH! Once again, restarted and waaaa "No Operating System found!” Shocks!!!!!! Her laptop's system got corrupted. The most horrible thing that could happen in a computer aside from hardware failures.

Looked for my installers and realized that I haven't seen them for a long time. They're missing. I opened my desktop and searched for any backup installers I had but again NO LUCK. I need a WINXP installer.

Also, I realized that even I have all the installers needed - there's still a problem. The laptop doesn’t have CDROM and doesn't have an external hard drive. All went wrong.

Me being wicked sister that time (sorry for being mean but I've been thinking what to do the whole time – I need to think fast - I need to resolve this problem), I asked my sister to buy a WinXP installer.

I discussed what had happened to her laptop and said it was all caused by viruses not explaining the scanning/deleting part. wehehe

The next day, she gave the WINXP installer but I still don't have any resolution to this problem. Doomsday, which was also my last vacation leave. oh C'mon.

My work schedule was 4:30 in the morning till 1:30 in the afternoon. Honestly, I have an idea that I could use a USB flash drive in installing OS but I had never tried it before - until that day. :)

So there, I started searching, reading related problems over the web and trying to grasp every little thing that could unravel the issue. Thanks to Mr. Google and other PC related websites.

I find myself getting frustrated but to my surprise, I become more determined. I feel so excited as if it is like a challenge to me.

It's 12 midnight! I'd downloaded different tutorial files, installers, applications and etc. that could help but still nothing works. I am so sleepy, tired physically and mentally.

It's near 4:00 am and still need to work.

Two o'clock in the morning, there's an application called emergency boot up, downloaded and copied it to my USB flash disk for the nth time inserted to the laptop.

There is it! Finally, it's working; software was read by the laptop. OMG, I am really happy and excited that time. It was already in format options menu when again "LAPTOP shuts off and won't turn back on".

Shoot!!!!! This really made me crazy!! Trying to do the same steps, it booted 4 times – but no success at all.

Facing the world of internet, searching, reading - looking again and again for a resolution.

"Why does a computer shuts off during formatting" - mostly the returned answer was because of "OVERHEAT".

I took out the battery for 5 minutes.

2:35 am - I started repeating the same steps and THANK GOD it is now actually running smoothly, no signs of shutting off.

My head aches, really, so I napped - it was 3:15 in the morning when I woke up and I felt like I am in a high cloudy state of mind. Luckily, it didn't boot but was only at 12% of formatting.

But I need to get ready for work, I asked my sister who was an addict online game player of FLYFF (luckily - she doesn't have a job that time, thanks to her).

So I left for work. I am not late!!! Yes! hehe

While at work...

Wosssshhhhhh,, ZszzzzzZsss, Sleeepppppyyy, waaa I want to go home. Time flew slowly that time.

Coffee break, Rest room break, Nap break (a little - shhss hehe, it’s forbidden you know), 10:00 am - LUNCH break! Yeah! I still have 2.5 hours and we can go home!

1:30 pm - I am super duper sleepy, I still need to finish an online training (my GOD please...huhu) We went home 3:00 pm.

Finally, I am home!!!!! Best thing!

My sister was still sleeping; I poked her and asked what happened. She only said "It was successfully formatted 9:00 am".

Thank You LORD, it is now working properly. Yeah I still need to search for its soundcard, graphics, and other important drivers.
